At Least They Haven't Started Seizing Our Homes:
Coaches,
- On Wednesday the advisory board passed the $5 fee and then I was made aware that the parks dept. will raise their fees across the board starting July 1st. I'm waiting to find out when the city council meeting for this will be. The increase fee will now go to the general parks fund, which will disperse $$ throughout the entire system and not focus on the parks where the $$ is collected from. If you know the e-mail of the city council members or who is Canton's/Fells Pt./Federal Hill councilmen, please send them to me. I 'm creating a list for us to start sending e-mails to.
- The police are now enforcing the no drinking law in the parks. May have something to do with the city squeezing me for speaking out about the increased fees. BUT, I did talk to the policeman last night in detail about what we can do. CUPS and putting beer into the coolers BEFORE you get to the field is the answer. Tell your players they can no longer just walk through the park with a 30 pack under their arm or have an open can ANYWHERE in the park ( including players benches ). Put all beer in a cooler and when you open it put it in a cup. This is a VERY simple solution that will allow ALL of us to enjoy a cold beverage during the game.
- If you had any rule ?'s or a ? on a situation that occurred last week, please contact me.
- If we get rained out before the end of the 4th week of the season.......the make up DATE will be Saturday, July 9th. This will include any games that may be rained out July 5-6-7. The July 4th games will be made up on MONDAY, August 8th.
- I would like to also get some feedback on how everyone is liking ( or disliking ) the outdoor venue. This way I can go to the owners and see how they can improve. Or better yet, let them know that you are enjoying yourself.
- Have a safe weekend and I will see you next week......thanks again... mc
